'Bally' held with gun

By Michael McLean, STAr Writer

A man who was arrested and charged with breaches of the Firearm Act was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate Court last Thursday.

Jason Beadle, otherwise called 'Bally', of Fagan Town District, St. Elizabeth, will return to court on November 1 when the matter will again be mentioned. Resident Magistrate Stanley Clarke also told the accused that a bail application could be made at that time.

The Court was told that on October 21, about 7:30 a.m., a police team from Santa Cruz Police Station carried out an operation in the district. During the operation, the accused man's house was searched and a home-made shotgun with one 12-gauge cartridge was found.

It is alleged that the accused, who lived in the same yard with his aunt, had an argument with her the day before and sometime after he went into his house, took out the gun and pointed it at his sibling. The aunt reported the incident to the Santa Cruz police, which led to his arrest.
