THE EDITOR, Sir:

A tell yuh di truth mi nuh feel sorry fi di people dem weh get scam quite recently. Why do these people allow themselves to be disadvantaged in this way over and over. About two weeks before a good number of people were said to have been scammed in the Old Hope Road area of St. Andrew, and presently one in Montego Bay.

These people were said to have been told by the organisation that they would be responsible for the $5,000 so they would only be responsible to pay $2,000.

The question is why are we members of the public so stupid? These persons don't know you from ' MASSA GOD ADAMS ' and you really think that they would be so considerate to just take you up and do these things for u just like that?

Come on, wake up and 'smell the coffee'. Notwithstanding, we know that the real reason for this is because some people are really desperate for jobs.

The relevant authorities will have to step in and deal with the matter of unemployment. You cannot allow these agencies to just keep on taking people's hard-earned money with a promissory note. Also, members of the public should know positively what they are getting into.

If you cannot read or understand quite well, carry someone with you to relate to you what is happening.

Some employment agencies are genuine while some are ginals, it's up to your approach. Don't just give up your hard- earned money like that. You could have used that money to finance yourself more positively.

Those people who are conning members of the public should face the consequences of punishment.

They should be brought to justice for taking poor people's money fraudulently. The reason for job scams is due to unemployment and those persons that were conned are mostly women. I hope they wont allow it to drive them to frustration.

Some of them who cannot bear with the situation will turn to stealing. We need to do something, before something do us. People are frustrated.
