A distraught Calabar High, still struggling to cope with the tragic loss of their coach David Hunt on Friday, will try to focus on the business of football, when they take on St Andrew Technical in a ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Walker Cup double-header at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
Familiar rivals Excelsior High and Camperdown High will get the ball rolling in the 1:00 p.m. curtain raiser, before Calabar and STATHS take the field at 3:00 p.m.
The Red Hills road team only just booked their spot in the competition with a 2-1 win over Edith Dalton James on Saturday, but should find an unbeaten Group F winners STATHS, very difficult opposition.
Outside of all the distractions, the young Calabar team had already been struggling for consistency this season and it will take a special effort to get by STATHS, who have proven to be rock solid in early season play so far. The bumper hall team having let in a stingy two goals in ten games, previously tied with Norman Manley and Eltham for the least in the competition.
The early encounter should be an interesting one as both Excelsior and their slightly more favoured opponents for today, Camperdown are capable of playing entertaining football.
