Garvey Maceo booked their place in the semi-finals of the rural Area Ben Francis KO Cup competition after beating former champions Clarendon College 3-0 at Brancourt on Saturday.
It was a one-sided affair with Garvey Maceo totally outclassing the Garfield Robinson-coached Clarendon College.
Garvey Maceo took the lead in the 30th minute when Daniel Callaghan headed the ball past goalkeeper Kirk Harris. Eight minutes later Callaghan put his team in a two-goal lead when he tapped a ball deflected off Clarendon College Krishna Steers past Harris.
The second half was no better for Clarendon College. The attack-minded Garvey Maceo got several chances at goal and were rewarded in the 62nd minute when ace striker Ashton Bennett collected a pass in the 18 yard box and booted home past substitute goalkeeper Andre Blake.
An elated Jeffery Hewitt, Garvey Maceo's coach lauded his team for displaying excellent football on a good playing surface, while losing coach Garfield Robinson says his team gave it their all and he is now looking for a fine performance in the daCosta Cup.
