Saturday proved to be a bloody day across the island with five people being murdered in separate incidents police reports indicate.
The May Pen police are now awaiting a post-mortem that will state the cause of death of an unidentified man found dead at the Clarendon Parish Library at Main Street in the town.
A man who is believed to be in the late forties and is of dark complexion, slim build, about 173 cm tall and was clad in a grey T-shirt, red merino, white jeans pants and a pair of brown shoes was found trapped in a window at the library.
Police reports are that at 1:30 a.m. security personnel were on duty at the facility when strange noises were heard. They went to investigate and found the unidentified man trapped between two metal bars at a window. The police were summoned and the man was taken to the May Pen hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the Montego Bay police are investigating the murder of a taxi driver of Hendon, Norwood in St. James.
Dead is Henry Reid, 39-year-old, otherwise called "Indian". Police reports are that at 8:45 p.m. Reid was sitting in his motor car registered 4297DH on the Hendon main road. He was reportedly approached by a man armed with a gun. Reid was shot and killed.
Body found in big river
The Port Antonio police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Big River at Anchovy Land Settlement, Port Antonio, Portland.
Police reports are that at 11 a.m. a passer-by discovered the body of Wayne Morrison of Anchovy Land Settlement in the river and called the police. When police arrived Morrison's body was removed from the water and upon close examination found to have a number of chop wounds.
Two men were also shot dead in the St. Andrew North Police Division. Dead are Alrick Dennie, 38 of Stony Hill, St. Andrew and Kiplin Gordon of Whitehall Avenue, Kingston 8.
Police reports are that at 3:30 p.m., Dennie was walking along the Airy Castle road when he was pounced upon by gunmen who shot him. He died on the spot. However earlier at 12:25 a.m. citizens said they heard explosions in the Merrivale Avenue area and called the police. When the cops arrived, Gordon's body was found on the roadway with gunshot wounds. The St Andrew North Homicide Division are investigating.
