Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

Jah Mike (right) chills out with upcoming artiste Natalie and another young talent at his birthday bash, held at Village Cafe on Saturday.

Despite the heavy rainfall last Saturday night, Jah Mike still managed to enjoy himself along with the handful of patrons who turned out to show their support and love for him as he celebrated his Birthday Bash at the Village Café.

The early vibes got going on stage with performances from the likes of Downsound Recording artiste, Natalie who had persons rocking To The Left, and Blaze, who was brought back at the special request of Jah Mike who was emceeing his own show.

"Bwoy Jah Mike, what you request you will get," Blaze said as he repeatedly performed his melodic love song as if there was no ending.

Foundation Sound System selector and producer Jack Scorpio was also among those who turned out to bless up Jah Mike on his birthday and according to Scorpio, "give him a likkle strength."

Scorpio then took over on the turntables, giving patrons the history through music as he selected tunes from the early days.

"These are songs weh mi mek inna di early days of clashing Sound and killing Sound," Jack Scorpio announced before spinning a few of his favourite Dennis Brown songs.

And by the time Scorpio got around to playing some other artistes he produced in the early days like Freddy McGregor, Echo Minot, Sanchez and others, he boasted, "A me a di first man wey mek Freddy voice one special."

After Jack Scorpio took a break from the turntables, it was the deejay called Bad Influence who next took the stage. His energy and vibe captivated the attention of the audience.

Seven-year-old Amanda Cat accompanied by her father Johnny Cat were, however, the first artistes for the night to get a major forward, as there was crazy forward for the toddler's 'Crazy Wine'.

Other artistes who added to the vibe and success of the night included the likes of Johnny P- who sang 'Praises' for the ladies on the 'Bike Back'- Little Jon and others.
