The Editor, Sir:
It was as clear as day that Marion Jones was on something, but who could tell it was the 'Clear' (Tetrahydrogestrinone).
Only the goodness of God endureth forever. If you are treading the wrong path you shall be caught. Marion Jones looked so genuine and so true. Some people go for fame, some go for fortune, and some go for both. Some end up in shame. Merlene Ottey was cheated repeatedly and reduced to the name of 'Bronze Queen'.
It is the truth that "the heights that great men reached and kept, were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward through the night." Success is no easy road, you have to be honest, dedicated and persevere to achieve genuine success. The get-rich mentality has taken over the world and is poisoning the minds of the young. Remember the saying; 'Honesty is the best of policy'. Nothing beats a man with a clear conscience. To dishonour your peers causing them to lose their medals, is an injustice.
Doping has always been a
perpetual problem among American athletes. Every time we learn to trust them, they let us down.
It's frightening to see the degree to which several high-profile athletes engage in drug taking, despite being aware of the consequences and the debilitating effects of these drugs. These designer steroids cause great physiological and psychological changes in the human body, causing irreparable damage.
American Kelli White after admitting that she took steroids some years ago admitted to changes in her body. She took the same drug that Marion Jones has now revealed she is taking.
A very open-ended question is, What can be done about doping? Is there no solution?
I am, etc.,
