Twin of Twins - file
Dancehall sibling duo, Twin of Twins are ending their musical mute on the controversial death of 6-year-old Zion Gaynor, the only son of group member, Patrick 'Curly Lox' Gaynor.
"When di initial ting occurred we needed time to heal. From the day after I began writing a book, 'Road to Zion' mi did even start the song too, but mi couldn't bring myself to even voice anything without tears...," said a sombre Curly Lox.
Following the success of their latest single, A Who Ketch Heart Attack, where they jested about the 'drama' between Beenie Man and D'Angel, the humorous social commentators will be changing their pace, with the October 20 release of Only God Knows.
Despite the highly questionable circumstances surrounding Zion's death, his father says he decided not to bring the controversy to pen, choosing instead to write about his feelings and emotional anguish.
"Mi keep it on how mi feel bout the loss of Zion, relating to people who have lost loved ones, the pain of loss, not about the incident even though mi son was beaten to death sometimes anger will lead you to say things and we don't want to get ahead of myself, to judge the police or their work, maybe dem a put in the effort and we not seeing it because of some political ting, me nuh know," the mourning father explained.
COLD CASE FILE
Although the investigating officer in the matter could not be contacted, a source at the Spanish Town police station indicated that the matter was being held up due to discrepancies in the coroners report. Although the Twins' are not blaming the police, they concur that justice is not being served.
"Is a cold case file, me nuh see di effort, we been trying to get some justice out of it, me see is a run around, but maybe their (police) hands are tied. Justice is not forthcoming at this time. I just wish it were being treated like an upper class killing," Curly Lox said.
In the meantime, the twins are keeping busy at what they do best, with the upcoming release of an entirely new series titled, Trial and Crosses Vol. 1.
The Twins say they are also gearing to release the 'Twinies Book of Records,' where they say they will be doing much less satire, and more singles.
"Tune dem a get a fight, suh we a push dem wiself wit di book of records, but a still expression of self like always. Satire will keep coming, gangster comedy fun and caa stop nuh care who wa' bawl. Why people want to be vex all di time, we bring joy to the game, while dem a fight we a write," jested Gaynor.
