Caroline Myers, a teacher, won the date with Tarrus Riley and they had a good time getting to know each other at Livity Restaurant, Hainning Road, New Kingston, on Thursday, October 11. - Winston Sill

When Tarrus met Caroline on a stormy rainy day at the Livity Restaurant on Haining Road, New Kingston, the two instantly got off to a lively start. Artiste of the month for August Tarrus Riley met with Seaforth High school teacher Caroline Myers last Thurday evening.

Miles impressed the STAR team and Tarrus Riley with her short and spicy essay on how 'royal' she was. With congested roads, and rivers overflowing, the win-a-date got off to a late start as both Caroline and Tarrus made their way from St. Thomas.

Fan drawings

Caroline arrived first, showing the STAR the gifts she had for Tarrus including pictures of her art work and a wonderful drawing of Tarrus. The drawing was made from a picture of Tarrus that ran in the STAR when he was the artiste of the month. As soon as Tarrus saw the picture he was instantly delighted and had brought presents of his own including a CD, a picture and a bracelet for his date.

In an effort to make up for his late appearance, Tarrus invited the lovely Caroline to join him at 'Curefest', where he would be performing. Obviously delighted, Caroline immediately accepted and soon the two got into thick conversation discussing the persons they knew, while Tarrus looked through Caroline's portfolio of work.

Tarrus commented "yuh terrible, yuh nuh. Yuh truly gifted. Dis is my date fi real, a destiny! People always a interview me, but let me interview yuh. Tell me what inspires you," he said.

They continued to talk about St. Thomas, while Caroline quizzed the artiste on many aspects of his life, as Tarrus exposed some of himself to his fan.

Proclaiming to be a humble person, Tarrus explained that he preferred people to know his music more than him. "I'm a private person. Some man want to mek people know dem is here, I'm not like dat," he said.

Jovial person

Caroline expressed that she had originally thought Tarrus to be a very sombre person, Tarrus told her he was professional when it's work time, but otherwise he's a very jovial person.

Skimming on topics such as his family and career, Tarrus also mentioned his 'vision' and many dreams for his music and the future. Caroline also paid the artiste many compliments telling him how much she and her students love his music. After making plans for the weekend, the two left, obviously finding a friend in each other.
