AFTER two rounds of the new Cash Plus Premier League, Seba United lead a trio of unfancied teams atop the standings including promoted side St. Georges Sports Club, who shocked Village united 2-1 at Lynch park in their first ever premiership home match, last Sunday.
Boys' Town have a share of the lead on four points after drawing 1-1 with fellow leaders Seba at Collie Smith Drive, keeping last season's top teams off the early pace.
Champions Harbour View are off to what could be their worst start in years, sitting near the foot of the standings on two points following another draw, 1-1 at Reno, whereas last season's runners-up, Portmore United, remain on three points after being ambushed 1-0 at Waterhouse.
crucial match up
Portmore, who ended with nine men at Drewsland last Sunday, are at home tomorrow, awaiting Boys' Town in what should be a crucial match-up for both teams.
Another loss for Portmore would take the lead further out of reach whereas a win would be precious for Boys' Town on the road.
Portmore will be without suspended Wolry Wolfe and three other starters, who are away with the national Under-23 team, Eric Vernon, Rudolph Austin and Adrian Reid.
However, Boys' Town should not expect Portmore to be weakened as such eventualities must have been taken into consideration and suitable replacements prepared for the crucial home match.
Seba United have home advantage when they face Tivoli at Jarrett Park. The men from Montego Bay were really sharp at Collie Smith Drive last week, playing a lethal 4-3-3 combination.
Tivoli have not got off to a good start, coming from behind to earn draws in their two matches. Last Sunday, it was Christopher Jackson, who saved the day at Railway equalising in the 51st minute after Rollin Francis had put August town ahead in the 42nd.
Seba will be dangerous at home and Tivoli, on current form, will be hard pressed to leave Jarrett Park with a victory.
St. Georges are yet to taste defeat and played a smart away game at Harbour View in their first away Premiership match. A similar defensive approach could keep August Town at bay.
In other games, old rivals Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse will lock horns at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex. Arnett are yet to score a goal after two games, which is not good news going up against Waterhouse, who have four strikes to their credit.
Elsewhere, debutants Sporting Central Academy, hunting their first victory, face Reno at the Spanish Town Prison Oval as their Brancourt home ground is still not ready to host Premier League games.
Reno are an experienced bunch and the debutants will have to pull out all the stops to deny the men from Westmoreland.
Meanwhile, champions Harbour View should get the better of Village at Compound as they seek to notch their first win of the season.
