After his release from jail just three months ago for attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, 20-year-old Miguel Crawl was before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court for a similar indictment.
Crawl, a labourer of Mandeville in Manchester, was on Wednesday remanded in custody on charges of simple larceny and receiving stolen property in relation to a car valued at $750,000.
He has been in custody since October 7 after the Mandeville Police saw him driving the complainant's motor vehicle which was stolen from St. James.
RM Winsome Henry ordered that the accused be remanded after learning of his previous conviction, and said that he could commit further offences if granted bail. He is scheduled to return to court on October 24.
Allegations are that on September 15, the complainant parked his 1997 Toyota Camry sedan on Kent Avenue, and hung his keys on a wall before heading off for a swim. When he returned, 40 minutes later, his car was missing.
The court heard that on October 7 the Mandeville Police held the accused after he was seen driving the car along Spur Tree Hill. The licence plates were changed however, but checks made on the chassis number and other features of the vehicle revealed that it was registered to the complainant.
