Cabinet award housing contract

Cabinet has awarded a contract valued at $795 million to HDB Construction Limited for the building of 767 town houses under phase one of the Twickenham Park Housing Development project.

Minister of Transport and Works, Mike Henry, made this disclosure recently at the weekly post-Cabinet press briefing held at Jamaica House.

The project is a joint venture agreement between the Jamaica Civil Servants Housing Company Limited and the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU) and will benefit qualified National Housing Trust beneficiaries, members of the JCTU, and the Jamaica Civil Servants Housing Company Limited.

In the meantime, Surrey Paving and Aggregate Limited got the go-ahead from Cabinet to begin infrastructure works in Catherine Hall, St. James. The contract is valued at $91 million and work will entail the construction of roadways, storm water drainage, water distribution and sewage systems in that area.

Cabinet also awarded a contract to Bill Wright Construction for the rehabilitation of Anderson Drive, in May Pen, Clarendon. The contract is valued at $15 million.
