Thief in the night

Dear Pastor,

I have a boyfriend and the both of us are Christians. He is always asking me to have sex with him, but I always say no. One day I followed him to get a present for my mother, but we got back a little late and he said he won't let me travel so late. I stayed over that night. Some days later, he told me that he had sex with me while I was asleep. I was so shocked when he told me.

Please give me your advice because I am worried. I did not know anything and I did not agree to it so I considered it as rape.

L.R., Jamaica

Dear L.R.,

This guy tricked you. He had his plans and you trusted him very much. So, you slept with him. It is not unusual for men to have sex with women while they are asleep and the women were not aware of it until they wake up and discover that they are 'wet'. Some men call that 'stealing a piece'. It sounds funny, but it is true.

Women who sleep soundly don't know what is happening to them while they are asleep. Some women sleep in tight shorts so as to prevent men from taking advantage of them. Skimpy underwear can be easily be adjusted by skilful men. You were na•ve.

You thought this guy would have taken no for an answer, but he had other plans. You played right into his hands by agreeing to sleep over. He is not an honourable man. I hope that you are not pregnant.

Pastor
