Out-of-favour West Indies all-rounder Omari Banks is hopeful of making a return to international cricket and says he is confident of replicating his current form in the Leeward Islands tournament.
The 25-year-old Banks, who has played 10 Tests and five One-Day Internationals but has not worn West Indies colours in two years, said he was still focused on representing the regional team.
"International cricket is one of my focuses also and I am always interested in playing for the West Indies," Banks told CMC Sports in a telephone interview.
"You can only do as much as who you are playing against. When I'm playing against St. Kitts, I try to focus against St. Kitts. When I am playing against Trinidad and the other first-class teams in the Caribbean, I try to focus on that. If I am playing against England and Australia, I try to do the same.
"So I enjoy playing at all the levels but obviously West Indies cricket is the highest level and that's what I love and enjoy playing."
Banks has been in superb all-round form for Anguilla in the ongoing LICA tournament.
Rewrote history books
Just recently, he rewrote the record books when he scored a century in each innings against St. Kitts, while picking up a nine-wicket haul in the first innings.
Banks, however, has been out of the selectors' thoughts in recent year, last featuring on the West Indies tour of Sri Lanka in 2005.
He said he was keen on translating his current form into first-class and international cricket, once given the chance.
"At the moment, as performances would show, I am in good form with the bat and the ball so when I go on to play first-class cricket and hopefully international cricket, I'm sure I'll take the same performances over into that because confidence plays a big part in the game of cricket," Banks said.
