Westchester down Bridgeport

Westchester Netball Club pulled off a spectacular 30-28 win over Bridgeport United in the second round of the Portmore Netball Association (PNA) Senior League at Ascot High on Sunday.

Westchester was led by veteran shooter Mercella Thompson with 26 goals from 36 attempts. For Bridgeport, Yanique Levy had 16 from 23 attempts, and Andrene Dawkins 12 from 17.

best game

This was the best Bridgeport United has played all season, with the players challenging for every ball and scoring their goals, but Westchester used grit and determination to hold off a Bridgeport team, hungry to secure their first victory of the divisional season.

In another senior game, Hellshire clobbered Thompson Pen, 29-5.

This game ended prematurely as Thompson Pen started the game with six players, but injury to two of their players forced the umpires to call off the game in the early moments of the fourth and final quarter due to an insufficient number of players on the court. In other games, Ken's Wildflower beat Invaders 'A' from Greater Portmore 34-20.

In junior play, Mega Angels demolished Bridgeport High School 37-7.

The competition continues tomorrow with a full set of games.
