Date set to crown Ms Teen Portmore

Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer

The storm is now over and the organisers of the Miss Teen Portmore 2007 pageant say the Grand Coronation show will now be staged on September 28, 2007.

"The show will now go on following the hiccups we had with the passage of Hurricane Dean and also the general elections," said Ronald Waite, who is part of Octron Promotions, the organisers of the four-year-old competition.

Waite explained that 17 young girls ages 14-16 will take the runway at the Portmore Heart Academy auditorium on the Friday night to vie for over $1 million in cash and prizes.

Prizes will be donated from Boss Furnishing, Image Plus Consultants LTD, (APEX X-Ray) and others while Air Jamaica will donate two tickets for the gate prize to travel to a Caribbean destination.

He said that the contestants will continue the tradition of excellence throughout Portmore because they have to have high marks in school to compete in the competition.

Kimberly Gunnings, Miss Teen Portmore 2006, will take her last walk on the night of the show which will be filled with entertainment for all who turn out.
