Father killed, child injured in Portmore
A 45-year-old mason was shot and killed in Portmore, while his 13-year-old has been hospitalised suffering from gunshot wounds.
The dead man has been identified as Calbert Alcott otherwise called 'Driver' of 5 West Greater Portmore.
It is reported that about 7 a.m. Alcott pulled his gate and went into his vehicle with his daughter to take her to school, then several explosions were heard and he was later found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The daughter received a shot wound to the shoulder and was taken to the hospital where she has been admitted.
When THE PORTMORE STAR visited the area, persons were tight-lipped with the exception of one man who spoke on condition of anonymity.
"I cant say him no mix up," remarked the bystander.
The police said however that Mr. Alcott was a hardworking person and no motive has been established in his death. They added that Alcott's death brings to six, the number of persons to have been killed by gunmen in Portmore since last Saturday.
The St. Catherine South Homicide is conducting investigation into the death of the mason. His death brings to 88 the number of murders in the St. Catherine South Division since the start of the year.
