Guard hits two going wrong way on one way

by Tashieka Mair, Star Writer

WESTERN BUREAU

A St. James security guard, who hit two pedestrians while reversing on a one-way street, will not be allowed to drive for the next twelve months.

His licence was suspended when he appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving on Wednesday.

The guard, Marvin Smith, 27, of Barracks Road in Montego Bay, was also fined $20,000 or 30 days imprisonment at hard labour.

Charges were levelled against Smith after allegations were made that two females sustained injuries after they were hit by his vehicle on Barracks Road on September 2.

One of the injured women was also hospitalised.
