West Indies opening batsman and Trinidad and Tobago captain Daren Ganga was in fine form over the weekend, scoring an unbeaten century in a limited overs trial match staged by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB).

The right hander, overlooked for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa, scored an even 100 not out on Saturday.

Ganga's team batted first and scored 232 for eight of their allotted 50 overs at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. Lending Ganga support was Kapil Harry with 32.

However, Ganga's effort was upstaged as T&T Under-19 players Adrian Bharat and Darren Bravo scored half centuries to take Rayad Emrit's team to victory.

Bravo continued where he left off in the regional Under-19 series and scored 80, while Barath who skippered T&T at the TCL Under-19 series, scored 78.

Their efforts enabled Emrit's team to reach 236 for six.

On Sunday, Ganga batted down the order to score an unbeaten 45, to take his team to victory.

Emrit's team batted first and scored 226 all out in their allotted 50 overs.

Leading the way was William Perkins with a hard-hit 67. Emrit contributed 40.

Bowling for the Ganga XI, spinner Nicholas Ramjass grabbed four for 23.

Mario Belcon and Samuel Badree then scored quickly, but both fell for 40 and the innings needed to be rescued by skipper Ganga.

This week, the players will continue to train at the NCC and will return to the playing arena on Saturday and Sunday for another two games.

The T&T players are currently preparing to defend their title in the regional KFC Cup limited overs championships, which starts on October 15.
