Simpson makes return in Monaco

Commonwealth Games 200m champion Sherone Simpson is set to make her long anticipated return to the track tomorrow at the Herculis Super Grand Prix in Monaco.

Simpson, who has not run since hopping across the line in 11.64 seconds at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway on June 15, at which time she picked up a hip injury.

In tomorrow's 100m race, Simpson will face World Champion Lauryn Williams of the United States, Christine Arron of France, along with Americans Marshevet Hooker and Brianna Glenn.

Meanwhile, Sprinter Steve Mullings and long jumper James Beckford were winners at the Tallinn meet on the weekend in Spain.

Mullings finished in 10.10 seconds, the same time as second-place finisher Ndure Jaysuma Saidy.

In the men's long jump, Beckford leapt 8.35m to beat Olexiy Lukashevych (8.02m).

Ricardo Chambers was a second-place finisher in the men's 200m in 20.69, beaten by Saidy (20.25). Mullings did not start in this event.

In the women's 100m hurdles, Andrea Bliss (13.42) was fourth in the event, won by American Dawn Harper (12.97).
