Jason Palmer, the 20-year-old man who is facing two separate charges of murder, is still without legal representation.
Palmer was remanded in custody until August 13, when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court on July 9. Meanwhile, RM Evan Brown instructed that he be given legal aid.
The accused is charged with the murder of 73-year-old returning resident Lesburn Wilson of Goshen district, St. Elizabeth. He is also waiting to face the Montego Bay RM court for another murder which he allegedly committed in St. James.
It's alleged that on April 2, at about 4:30 p.m., the accused went to the home of the deceased to ask him for a $5,000 loan. The accused was offered a beer and told to wait.
Wilson allegedly went into his house to his wife and returned to tell the accused that he couldn't meet his demands but offered him $200 instead.
It is reported that Wilson's wife was walking through the house when she saw a trail of blood which led to a room where she found her husband's body with several stab wounds.
She reportedly made an alarm and residents saw the accused running from the yard. Palmer was chased, held, beaten and chopped all over his body by residents.
He was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was admitted.
