Special Constable Floyd Schloss was sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment on gun-related charges in the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court on Thursday, July 12, by Justice D.O. McIntosh.
Facts of the case are that on October 18, last year, the police and another man went to a ganja field in Hounslow in the parish where they saw the complainant Joslyn Sanderson and others reaping ganja.
Schloss, a member of the Island Special Constabulary Force and also a licensed firearm holder, shouted "police" and the men ran.

The accused fired a shot, which hit the complainant in the leg. He then assisted the complainant to the Black River Hospital and on the way he told him that if the doctor asked him how he got shot, he should tell them that it was a gunman who robbed and shot him.
Constable Schloss testified on oath denying the charges and told the court that he saw the complainant on the road and assisted him to the hospital.
He was sentenced to 10 years for wounding with intent and seven years for illegal possession of firearm. The sentences are to run concurrently, so he will only serve 10 years.
The judge told him, in handing down sentence, that if he had pleaded guilty and asked for mercy, he would have been more lenient with him, but he lied to the court.
