A no order was endorsed against a man who damaged a glass door at a KFC restaurant in Montego Bay after the court was informed on Wednesday that he had compensated the complainants.
Everton Clarke of Westgreen, St. James, pleaded guilty to malicious destruction, and told the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court that he did not intend to break the glass door.
The court heard that on July 7, Clarke went to the KFC drive-through window on Howard Cooke Boulevard and bought a cold slaw. He returned minutes later complaining that the item was not good, and ordered a refund.
However, he did not have his receipt and was told that he could not get a refund without the document.
It is said that Clarke started behaving boisterously and banged on the window before walking to front of the building. He banged on the door shattering the glass, valued at $10,000.
He told the court that the door was closed and so he was knocking it with his fist when it broke, but said he did not deliberately damage it.
Representatives of KFC asked that no order be made in the matter as Clarke had fully compensated the restaurant for the damage caused.
RM Winsome made the order and warned Clarke that he needs to control his temper.
"You may have had a genuine cause for complaining but that's not the way you go about, sir," RM Henry said. "You have to learn to control your temper."
