Busy's former manager rebuts

Claudine Housen-Busy Signal

by Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

Busy Signal's former manager, Julian Jones-Griffith in a response to a story published yesterday in THE STAR, says Busy should have been more understanding in light of the fact that he had been managing two very popular dancehall artistes at the same time.

He is referring to Busy Signal and Mavado.

"He (Busy) is an extremely talented artiste and needs someone who can devote all of their time and attention to him, just as I did when his career was taking off. Busy and I know the amount of time and energy I put into his career in its early stages, and Busy understands that as Mavado rose, Mavado needed that same commitment from me, as well to help steer his career on the right path," Jones-Griffith told THE STAR.

He also added, "and with all the controversy and incidents that have happened around the singer's career, it has consumed a huge amount of my time. Mavado's album is coming out July 10, so we have also been extremely busy putting that together for the last six months, as well as promoting it."

Both former manager and artiste have declared, however, that there are no ill feelings, as Jones-Griffith says, "I have to say there is absolutely no bad feeling or bad vibes between us. Busy was, and is my friend. nothing will change that. I support him totally in his decision to seek new management."

And despite claims that Jones-Griffith had been neglecting Busy's career since Mavado's rise, Jones-Griffith maintains that he had always been a good manager.

"No matter what, most people will tell you I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any artiste I work with," he said.

He, however, admits that, "Busy's talent deserves someone who can put all their energy into his work as I did from day one."

"I wish him and his new management all the best in their endeavours," Jones-Griffith said.

And before any rumours begin to circulate, Jones-Griffith made sure to declare, "and yes, of course, Busy's still in the Alliance."
