Omar Bailey wept openly on Wednesday as he told the Spanish Town RM Court that he had no knowledge of the illegal gun for which he is charged.
Constable Shawn Brown of the Motorised Patrol division told RM Lorna Errar Gayle that about noon on June 17, the police were on traffic-enforcement duties on Old Harbour Road, when a coaster bus was stopped and he observed Bailey touching his waist.
"I pulled my firearm, pointed it at him and instructed him to hold up his hand, your Honour," said Brown. He said when he searched Bailey, he found a Charles Dally .45 semi-automatic pistol in his waist. Bailey was subsequently arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
But Bailey, when asked by the RM if he knew anything about the report by the lawmen, said the policeman had lied. He was,
however, remanded to appear in the Gun Court on July 13.
