Forger shocked about hefty fine

By Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

spanish town

Dave Denny, opened his mouth wide and said "My God!" after being fined $30,000 or six months hard labour.

Denny, 37, of Seaview Drive, St. Andrew, pleaded guilty to uttering forged documents and attempting to obtain money by means of forged documents in the Spanish Town RM Court recently. He was charged by the Central Village police following a report from the Registrar General Department.

Investigating officer Detective Corporal André Smith, told RM Lorna Errar Gayle that last January, Denny applied to the RGD express service for a birth certificate. He was not successful and applied for and was given a refund of his money. He, however, used the same receipt to try to get another refund.

The RGD summoned the police who arrested Denny, who pleaded guilty. He was fined and warned.
