Victims in Llandovery accident identified

Most of the people who died in the accident along the Llandovery main road in St. Ann on Wednesday afternoon have been identified.

They are Marklyn Gibbs of Pimento Walk, Ocho Rios; Nicola Jarett, 20, of Windsor Road, St. Ann's Bay; Lamar Finnegan, 17, of Lime Hall and Monique Blair. There is still one woman whose name, age and address have not yet been ascertained by the police.

The five died in an accident which occurred at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Police reports are that a Toyota Hiace bus registered PD 0275 and being driven by Marklyn Gibbs was travelling along the Llandovery main road.

On reaching a section of the roadway, he was involved in a collision with a Hino Truck registered 4269 EX driven by Milton Reid. All 19 occupants of the bus received injuries and were taken to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital where five were pronounced dead.

The injured were treated at hospital. The St. Ann's Bay Traffic police are investigating.
