Jamaica's Combined Martial Arts Team, the Busta Fighters, will travel to Orlando, Florida next month for the United States Taekwon-Do Open.
Representing the Pan-Am region in the Continental Championship, Jamaica will face hosts United States, New Zealand and England.
STAR Sports will feature profiles of all team members and coaches, today and Saturdays, leading up to the squad's departure on July 5.
Bruce McFarlane and Sean Cummings were featured last Saturday. Today's featured fighters are Kenneth Edwards and Alrick Wanliss.
Kenneth Edwards
A 21-year-old double medallist at last year's United States Open, Kenneth Edwards aims to improve on the silver and bronze medals he took home from Orlando in 2006.
Edwards is a 2007 IOC Pan Am Games qualifier and has won literally a dozen grand championships in addition to being a star for the Jamaica Combined Martial Arts Team.
Unbeaten as a teenage international, Edwards carries Jamaica's hopes in team fighting to carry home gold in the Continental World Championship.
According to team captain Jason McKay, a loss for Edwards is "unthinkable".
"If Edwards loses, we're in trouble," he told STAR Sports.
McKay's statement describes the responsibility Edwards will be carrying into the US Open.
Speed, flexibility and feared legs are his main strengths.
Alrick Wanliss
Alrick Wanliss
This Busta Fighter weighs in at less than 115lbs but fills the most difficult position on the team, as there is only one microweight spot available on the squad.
He is a World Cup bronze medallist from the 2006 World Cup held in Spain, and recently made history by winning the grand championship at the McKay security World Zendo Open.
Based on the structure of the team competition in which Jamaica will compete, Wanliss will be the first fighter out and is expected to score a victory.
A 19-year-old Montegonian, Wanliss will have an awesome responsibility resting on his slim shoulders in Orlando.
