Alleged thief shot in buttocks, dies

If he had known that stealing a $1000 would result in him getting shot in the buttocks and dying in a gully, one of two men who held up a man yesterday morning would probably have changed his mind.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree CIB are that at about 12:15 a.m. yesterday, the complainant was walking along Osborne Road in the Kingston 10 area, when he was approached by two men, one armed with a gun. They robbed him of $1,000.

The complainant ran off and reported the matter to the police. The police went back to the area where they saw the men and challenged them. The men reportedly shot at the officers and the fire was returned. One of the men was later found in a gully suffering from gunshot wounds. It was later discovered that he had been shot on the right side of his buttocks.

He was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital. His identity is still unknown.
