A 'Gangsta Ras' meal

Munga, the Star's Artiste of the Month was in the kitchen cooking up a storm recently. For about three hours, he traded the microphone for a spoon and other kitchen utensils.

Stewed tofu, ackee and saltfish and rice and peas were on the menu.

The meal was started from scratch with Munga personally ridding the the ackees of the seeds, slicing the tofu into cubes and pressure cooking the peas.

After dismissing several calls to his cellphone, Munga got down to business in much the same way as he would in the studio.

After making all the preparations, the stove was heated and the pots started bubbling.

For the rice and peas, Munga added all the basics including coconut milk, scallion, pepper and more.

Munga was ably assisted by Kevin, who marinated the tofu. Munga then heated vegetable oil in a skillet and browned the tofu. Munga added barbeque sauce, tomato sauce, pepper and honey.

A chef's work is done. Munga's brown stew tofu nears completion.

"Right now a Grace Kitchens inna di kitchen," said a member of Munga's entourage who anxiously awaited the completion of the meal.

To the ackee and saltfish, onions, sweet pepper, garlic and powdered seasoning were added.

"Chef, it kinda look and smell good, can't wait fi taste," a friend said.

Things almost took a bad turn when there was a power cut. Munga was cooking on an electric stove. A phone call to the light and power company by producer Don Corleone had the matter resolved quickly and soon the stove was back on.

Finally, some three hours later the food was ready to be consumed. Munga's friends were ready to eat and judge. The reviews were good. As the for THE STAR's review, Munga proved he can cook, and "dats why (im) gwaan suh."
