Fires ravage Kingston homes

In separate incidents on Saturday, fire destroyed two dwellings and left one man dead after his four-bedroom house was set ablaze by arsonists.

Dead is 67-year-old Deniaha Lindo of Slipe Pen Road in Kingston.

Reports are that at about 4:00 a.m, gunmen invaded the premises, firing several shots and setting the house on fire.

The fire brigade was summoned and units from the York Park Fire Department extinguished the blaze. Mr. Lindo's charred body was found in a section of the house and was then taken to the morgue for post-mortem examination.

Investigators from the Denham Town police found the remnants of several cocktail bombs at the scene.

The Denham Town police are also investigating the circumstances which caused a fire that destroyed a two-bedroom dwelling at Rose Lane in Kingston.

According to reports, at about 1:30 p.m, residents saw fire coming from a section of the dwelling and raised an alarm. The firefighters subsequently arrived and extinguished the blaze. Loss is estimated in the millions of dollars and it is not known if the building was insured.
