A Gleaner vendor was one of two men shot and killed in Montego Bay on Tuesday night when unknown assailants opened fire on the car in which they were travelling.Dead are 44-year-old Gleaner vendor, Raymond 'Big Head' Sinclair, and 27-year-old cable company employee Orette Campbell, both residents of the Bronx area in Rose Heights.

According to reports, shortly after 10:15 p.m. Campbell and his passenger, Sinclair, were travelling in his white Toyota Corolla motor car towards Sinclair's home when unknown assailants opened fire on the car, which subsequently ran into a light pole.

When the shooting subsided and residents, including Campbell's mother, who did not recognise her son's car, went to investigate, they found the bodies of both men slumped over in the car with multiple gunshot wounds.

"I heard the shots and saw some movement but the light from the light post was so pale so I was not able to see clearly what was happening," said a tearful Jacqueline Lawrence, Campbell's mother. "It was when we went down there I realise that it was mi son and 'Big Head' they had shot up."

When the police arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, most residents were tight-lipped, stating that while they were in close proximity to where the incident happened, they were not able to see clearly.

"It is really sad," said Carlos Stephenson, Campbell's stepfather. "These are two young men who go out to work every day and are not mixed up in any wrongdoing, so it is a real shame to see them being slaughtered in such a senseless way."
