A special constable, who was arrested with several other men and an allegedly illegal gun after they were suspected to be on a robbery spree near Chapelton, will appear in court tomorrow.
Special Constable Dwayne Taylor was attached to the Spanish Town police in St. Catherine but was said to be on suspension for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act. He had been on the force for four years.
Taylor will appear on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and robbery with aggravation. The incident reportedly occurred on May 20, when the accused was arrested after a high-speed chase with the police. During a search, a semi-automatic pistol along with several rounds of ammunition was allegedly taken from the vehicle in which he was travelling.
As a result, the officer will answer to the charges in the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court.
