Wasted my life?

Dear Pastor,

I've been wasting my life in a relationship that is not going anywhere. I've been with a man for 12 years and we have one child together. We are always arguing over simple little things and he loves to bring up things from the past. I tell him to get over it because everyone makes mistakes. I tell him that he is no saint either. I went to Jamaica some time ago and I met a guy, whom, when I first saw him, I knew I wanted to be with him. He treated me well so that everyday we talked on the phone.

He does not have children. I met his sisters and mother and they are nice. I really want him to come to Canada so we can get married and start a family. He is 40 and I am 30 years old. I really want this relationship to work because I see no future with my child's father. Right at this moment we are not even talking. He doesn't even visit his child, which is wrong because he doesn't have to take it out on her, no matter what.

Continue to do a great job and please pray for us.

T.C., Ontario, Canada

Dear T.C.,

Twelve years is a long time for anyone to be in a relationship and not be sure whether or not they are going to get married to each other. Therefore, if you believe that you are wasting your time with this man, move on.

Concerning this new man whom you met in Jamaica, take time to know him. Make sure that it doesn't go like your child's father. Remember, he is in Jamaica and you are in Canada, so you would have a long-distance relationship. Can you handle that?
