Artiste and Producer are just some of the hats that Delly Ranx is known to wear. But recently, Delly made the decision to try his hand at being a sound system selector on a professional level.
His sound is called 'D Ranx Machine', originating from his stage name and Delly says it's something that he has been thinking about for some time now.
"I've been thinking about it for the past nine months and the reason why I decided to do this now is to really help out some artiste weh nah get play. Just like my productions, yuh always si mi have one or two new artistes on it," Delly said.
Delly says it is his hope to play at party and events like regular selectors.
"Mi a si mi self a play all a session ... people haffi guh pay mi like Tony Matterhorn dem, but mi nah guh too kill dem cause at di same time mi waan promote mi self," he said.
Delly says, "D Ranx Machine is armed and dangerous. Mi have couple dub plate well, cause tru mi a producer as well, mi get tune from some a di artiste dem weh mi produce. Mi not even a guh do nuh dub wid mi self."
Becoming a selector is a natural progression for Delly.
"I used to select on sound while living in Mountain View on Jakes Road. Mi used to spin pon mi brethren 'Snatcha' Sound called Sparkling Star. But dat about 18 years ago," Delly said.
"Mi used to all keep mi birthday party an play Sound an fly in mi brethren from England, Lord Gelly Sound wid Andrew Fresh Kid. I was the one playing the music an him talk on di mic," Delly added.
Delly also said, "back in 1999, mi play a Nottingham Carnival in England wid Lord Gelly in front a bout 10,000 people, so I'm no stranger to this thing."
Although Delly might not be new to sound selecting, he says there are a few selectors in the business who he looks up to.
"Selectors like Niko Bam Bam, Tony Matterhorn, Fire Links, Richie Feelings, Likkle Richie an mi like di vibe of upcoming Sound, Fire Stick," he said.
Delly says he is currently working on getting a couple of giggs, but declined to mention anything specific as he said plans were not yet finalised.
