TRAINER Wilfred Chin has a rare three-timer lined up on tomorrow's 11-race holiday card including JACK BE GOOD in the 1200-metre Labour Day Trophy for top level claimers.
Chin's other hot runners on the programme are KERMIT in Race Five of CTL Claiming Series One at 1200 metres and CAT LEGEND in the 11th event at 1300 metres.
An Overnight Allowance winner less than a month ago, beating the speedy three-year-old, TOOT DI HOOT, JACK BE GOOD next moved to Open Allowance company where he prompted the pace with GOOD COMPANY to the half-mile in a 1820-metre race won by ALLIEDFORCE on May 5.
Back among top level claimers, where he rarely loses, JACK BE GOOD should use his speed to get away from post position two and open up on rivals leaving the half-mile.
When last at the level on March 21, JACK BE GOOD carried 54.0 kilos and was beaten by the very fit ALL FIRED UP but clearly lacked the stamina to stave off the stayer, who carried 50.0 kilos over her pet trip of 1820 metres.
With ALL FIRED UP in at 55.0, JACK BE GOOD isn't too heavy at 56.0 to steal a march but jockey Trevor Simpson should be wary of Dennis Lee's SATISFIER, who is versatile and light enough to pounce in the stretch run with only 52.0 kilos.
Jackpots over $2.5m
Whereas the Super-6 paid in excess of $9,000, PASSA PASSA's 10th race flop as a 4-5 favourite, coupled with REIGNING HEROINE's 7-1 upset in the fifth, sunk all Pick-9 bets on Saturday.
KERMIT is down in class in the eighth race after a big third place effort behind American-bred back-to-back winner WAGONIST and UNCLE D & ME at 1400 metres.
Prior to that run, KERMIT carried 55.0 kilos and kept ROCK STAR QUEEN honest into the lane at six furlongs before BABY RENEE pounced on April 9.
Both ROCK STAR QUEEN and BABY RENEE emerged winners out of that race. A late-closing RUCKUS finished fourth, ahead of fifth place KERMIT but did so with 50.5 kilos and will now carry at least 52.5, going a half-furlong shorter.
Chin should round off his three-timer with CAT LEGEND, who is extremely light with apprentice Carlton Malcolm coming in at only 47.0 kilos.
The seven-year-old mare ran an even fifth behind THE MINISTER, COCKROBIN and SHOWDOWN at 1300 metres on May 2, carrying 55.0 kilos.
Meanwhile, Track Price Plus Pick-6 players should start the day with a bang by banking on MYTHICAL PEGASUS, BLUE MAGIC, LADY SILSILA, DUBIE, THE BOMBER and TALLAWAH in the first six races.
