A special constable and two other men were arrested for breaching the Firearms Act in connection with a robbery in Turtle Pond, Clarendon, on Saturday morning.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are the special constable, 24, and two other men aged 28 and 33, all from St. Catherine. The men's names have been withheld, as they will be facing an identification parade, to determine whether they have been involved in other crimes.
Reports say at about 10:30 a.m., three men travelling in a Toyota Mark II, robbed a taxi driver of his Toyota Corolla in Turtle Pond, Clarendon. The police were alerted and the Mark II was intercepted on the Pennants main road. Following a search, a loaded 9mm pistol was found on one of the men. The Toyota Corolla was later found abandoned in Crofts Hill in the parish.
The Chapleton police, who are investigating, say the officer has been suspended.
