Back to the Bible, ladies

The Editor Sir,

I notice that a wide cross section of Jamaican women are lamenting that Jamaican men are abusing them verbally and physically. They are even calling on the Minister of Justice to ban men from giving them sweet talk. I think this is ridiculous.

There was a time in Jamaica when men used to run things. A man used to go out to work and take care of his woman. he would not care whether she was educated, born from a good family or have money, as long as she had the curves, he would be ready to take her home.

Now the tables have turned and men are saying that their women must possess money, homes or have some other outstanding quality because they (women) cry out for gender equality. We Jamaican men are giving it to them left, right and centre.

Here is a quotation from a song done by a foreign female singer: "I wonder what it is that makes a man leave a girl so all alone." Well, I think our women need to check out these bible scriptures: Proverbs 12:4-5, Isaiah 4:1, St. John 4:16-19, Revelation 17:1-5, Matthew 5:13.

I am, etc.,

Allan Martin
