The 2007 Dancin' Dynamites are Ricardo Lee and Donald McKenzie, Attitude Brothers. The duo from Jungle won more than $2 million in cash and prizes at the live finals of the Dancin' Dynamites competition at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.
The group barely made it off stage, as the excited supporters all but dragged them from the stage in their feverish celebration.
To appease the crowd all four finalists autographed photos for their fans following their stunning victory.
Among the finalists were Kimbe, runners-up, Blazin Vibes and Rock Stars, third and fourth, respectively. The winner was chosen from last week's votes combined with voting on Saturday night.
Young Blood did not make the top four after they received the lowest votes from last week. However, coming into the show, it was Kimbe in third place and Blazin Vibes in second. At one point, Blazin Vibes had 40 per cent of the live votes.
Theatrics
But the show was far from over, and this was the showdown. The groups did their final two-minute choreographed pieces to theme songs of popular cartoon and comedies displaying theatrics and comedy to the delight of the packed venue.
It was a Cartoon Network fiesta with the theme songs from Popeye, Spongebob, Pinky and the Brain, Tom and Jerry, Loony Toons and Scooby Doo. The Fresh Prince of Belair, Rags to Riches and Men in Black were all thrown into the mix. Both Neila Ebanks and L'Antoinette Steins, judges, agreed that the dancers had saved their best for the finals.
But the dance-off, the most exciting part of the evening, was the true test of the dancers. After picking lots, Blazin Vibes met with Rock Star while Kimbe faced off with Attitude Brothers for a few moments of freestyle. It was here that Andre Brown of Blazin Vibes shined.
He had been scolded during the months of the competition for being out danced, but on Saturday, Shelli Ann Spence was grounded as she Dutty Wined and hot wuk. Rock Star, however, got out and were livelier than they had been all season.
Attitude Brothers and Kimbe were as Orville Hall would say, "Dandimite". The groups, though unrehearsed, improvised and managed to work as a group; the judges were pleased by this development and the entertainment. Steins said that Kimiko Miller brought Africa alive.
Among the night's other entertainment were past winners, finalists, Ebanks and the Jessie Ripol Primary School which took the place by storm with Temperature. But it was Assassin who was almost as hot as the contestants as he checked into Girls Gone Wild, Ghetto Policy, and Ediat Ting Dat.
