Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy, who scored at least 20 points 16 times in his debut season, has been named NBA Rookie of the Year.
Roy received 127 of 128 first-place votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters.
Toronto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani was a distant second followed by guard Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies.
"This is a proud day for the city, the franchise, and Brandon, whose performance this past season speaks volumes to the direction we're headed as a franchise," Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.
Roy was the sixth overall pick in last year's draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves before being traded to Portland for the draft rights to Randy Foye.
He led the Trail Blazers in scoring in seven of his final 10 games of the season and was named the Western Conference rookie of the month in January, February and March.
The 6-foot-6, 229-lb guard scored a career-high 29 points against Utah on April 4 and was selected for the All-Star game's rookie squad.
Roy led all rookies with a scoring average of 16.8 points, 4.0 assists and 35.4 minutes in 57 games.
He averaged 4.4 rebounds per game and ranked third among rookies in free-throw percentage at .838.
Roy will receive the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy, named in honour of one of the NBA's founders, who coached the Philadelphia Warriors to the championship in 1946-47.
