Technical difficulties hindered the start of Eclipse Pool Party held at Rockfort Mineral Spa last Saturday night, but after a while the party kicked into life.
When the STAR team arrived at midnight, the selector was in an oldies vibe. A few patrons were scattered around the pool rocking to the rhythm. One couple was flirtatiously playing a game of catch in the pool, where a long catwalk was being set up for the scheduled modeling section later in the night.
As a few more patrons filed in to songs such as Maniac and Living Dangerously, as the cameraman made his rounds focusing in on some of the interesting fashions for the night. Dressed in bikinis and short shorts or skirts the women kept all the male eyes on them.
One man in a white shirt and pants had purple designs spray painted all over his suit as he danced for the camera.
Then the sound went out. For about ten minutes the venue was in silence as the patrons laughed, complained and created their own music.
Oldies streak
After apologising to the patrons the selector resumed his oldies streak. Just when more persons came in after 1 a.m., the selector announced that the sound had to be turned off again to properly fix the problem. For more than 45 minutes the venue was silent except for those with high tech cell phones who amused themselves by playing their own music. Countless patrons started complaining that they wanted their money back, while others just wanted some good music to dance to.
Finally the sound was back as the Dembe Squad went into action. A party that looked like an unfortunate flop was instantly revived as Jigsy King took over the mic.
"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Dembe!" cried the selector and the crowd as Sizzla's Rise to the Occasion drummed through the night. A slew of reggae love tunes followed from Gyptian, Sizzla, Chuck Fender and Cherine Anderson. The poolside was filled as persons danced and watched the entertainment at the front of the stage.
A group of girls danced in the video light as Jigsy King encouraged them to take the catwalk, one girl strutted her stuff as she split and wined on the ground, earning her a prize.
Emcee Pretty Boy Floyd built the vibe as the night went on.
Then it was time for the fashion segment as models showed off designs from Cooyah and Tattwu. Short skirts, shorts, tank tops and spaghetti strap tops in all colors were showcased by Cooyah, while Tattwu showed off their latest and sexiest bikinis. Bass Odyssey's Next Generation took off, to be followed by Razz and Biggy, CD Master among other selectors.
When the Star team left at 4 a.m. some persons left, while some were just arriving as the patrons danced the night away.
