Opening the 'closet'

Once again members of the gay community are stirring up controversy. This time it's because of a threat issued by some homosexuals in Montego Bay who are threatening to squeal on their friends who are on the 'down low'.

According to the story which lead the Monday STAR, they are planning to take action because they feel that these 'closet' homosexuals have been taking sides against them.

Despite the fact that homosexuality is considered morally wrong, it is admirable that these men have chosen to stand up for what they believe in.

But everyone must be wondering what will happen if they chose to execute their plan. How many families will be destroyed? How many people will have to flee their communities because of the hatred shown towards them if their true sexual orientation is revealed?

Even worse, is the fact that these men who might be in the closet could be worrying because they chose to live a lie. This story should certainly have Jamaicans thinking about their lifestyles.

As this story clearly shows, "what inna darkness must come to light". Many Jamaicans would love to have their secrets remain in the dark, but all will be unveiled in a matter of time. Therefore, if you are living a lifestyle that you know you do not want the world to know about then probably you should consider changing your life and if you feel you cannot then accept yourself and be truthful about it.
