Those who were not at the 'Rendezvous' point last Saturday night at the Temple Hall Great House in St. Andrew, missed all the crazy vibes and action that went on.
The event which was staged by Bomba Xplosion in association with Pimpjuice featured top entertainers like Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Mavado among many others.
Patrons were tuned in to some early vibes with the musical selections by the Twin Star Sound, Reggae King, Hotta Ball and others. And as patrons made their way to Rendezvous, they were also greeted by a big screen display that showed clips of other dance parties.
At 2:16 a.m., it was time for the main acts to take the stage, as 'Di Teacha', Vybz Kartel headed up the list of artistes who would perform.
Kartel took the stage doing an onslaught of old hits like Sen On, Bad From and even told what happened When Gyal Waan Buy.
He, however, paused to give his 'big up' to The Alliance, but at the same time, used the opportunity to introduce a set of artistes that he was trying to expose in the music business.
"Big up Alliance but mi have mi crew," he said before introducing some of his artistes out of the Portmore Empire. The likes of Black Rhino, Craig Dennis, Likkle Danga and others all took turns on the microphone to try and prove their lyrical worth. The crowd approved.
Kartel then took over again as he decided that it was time for the ladies to get on bad as he sang, Body Nuh Crawny among other tunes.
When Kartel left the stage, it was back to the selectors again to allow patrons to dance and party until the next round of artistes took the stage.
After selectors like Hotta Ball came and "Haaat it Up," it was time for The Alliance.
The likes of Jagwa and others got some positive response from the audience, but they merely sought to make way for the 'Ground God", Bounty Killer, who took the stage at approximately 3:21 a.m. performing a string of oldies but goodies like War, Suspense, Lexus Bimma and Benz, and Follow Mi Arrow among others.
Bounty Killer also took the opportunity to address a few burning issues.
"Di odda day mi guh a 'Gyaltegobay' an mi big up some yout call Stone Crusha an people a ridicule mi, an mi nuh hear nobody seh nutt'n when di gy dem a jump up an a galang bad a carnival," Killer said before warning, 'the Eagle An Di Hawk dem surround mi.'
Predator at one point managed to make his presence felt as he sang, 'Macka Diamond ugly till she buck' before he made sure Head A Res.
Bounty was back in no time, this time warning, "mi bun all Judas, all betrayer," before getting back to the music.
As he removed his dark glasses to sing, Look Into Ma Eyes, he had the females screaming as he partied with them from the stage with tunes like Set It.
But it would be unlike the Killer to not make one final address. He asked, "why bman a tek up bad man gyal fah?" He then proceeded to sing, "any gyal mi dash weh mi can getty back." Needless to say, patrons loved every moment of Killer's performance.
At 4:13 a.m., the final set of artistes would take the stage, this time it was Mavado who led the charge as he took the stage singing his gangsta version of Amazing Grace. The reception was immense and the atmosphere became tense as the 'Gangster For Life' singer spat some intense 'gun lyrics'.
He was also joined on stage by Flex, who enjoyed his piece of the action, before Mavado invited Buccaneer to the stage, saying, "a dem man yah set di ting."
Other acts to take the stage at Rendezvous included the likes of Shane O, Bescenta, Hollow Point and Martina, all getting some amount of love from the audience.
