Apprentice Walker sitting on a four-timer

By Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

HOT apprentice Omar Walker could notch a four-timer on tomorrow's 10-race card after sitting out a one-day ban on Wednesday.

Walker, who opened and closed last Saturday's programme with LITTLE SNOW JOHN and CLASSY BOY PETE respectively, looks set to land tomorrow's co-feature, the Roderick 'Pilot' Francis Memorial, aboard TYRONE SON.

His other hot mounts on the 10-race card are MITAKA in the seventh at 1100 metres, RUN ALDEENO in the eighth and MUSICAL MAESTRO in the ninth, both five-furlong straight events.

TYRONE SON ran an awful race off a claim last time out from Deon Facey's barn, beaten down the track behind ROCK STAR QUEEN on a $200,000 tag at 1200 metres on March 28.

However, the six-year-old grey gelding was a totally different horse out of Dennis Lee's barn two-and-a-half weeks earlier, running away from fit $160,000 claimers SIR KISSON LAL and SIR MOHANDAS BABA at 1300 metres.

Claimed from Facey by Rowan Mathie after his poor run last time out, TYRONE SON, now back at the lowest level, could spring to life. He was spotted cantering out of the straight in the blinkers on Tuesday morning after spending the previous two weeks in the equine pool.

Jackpots back at $1.5m

Wednesday's eight-race card was without the regular Pick-9 but a big Hi-Five payout, two winning tickets each worth $285,501, ensured punters had a lot to go at in the eighth race.

The Super-6 also returned a good sum, $49,381, to 23 winning combinations.

Walker should definitely have a say in tomorrow's jackpots as his four hot mounts are all on the Super-6 and the Pick-9, which will return with $500,000 and $1m guarantees.

MITAKA showed good speed at 1400 metres last Saturday and should get the better of LIGHT MY FIRE in the seventh at 1100 metres.

Walker replaces Winston Griffiths aboard RUN ALDEENO in the eighth and the gelding's fine run in the 2000 Guineas should make him a winner at 1000 metres straight.

The figure-eight, fitted for his last two races, seems to have straightened out RUN ALDEENO, who was right there a furlong out with MUCHO GUSTO in the 2000 Guineas.

Track record-holder MUSICAL MAESTRO returns to Open Allowance company where he faces off with old rival LA REINA in the ninth at 1000 metres straight.

LA REINA excited at exercise Monday morning, clocking 57.2 at the distance, whereas MUSICAL MAESTRO was clocked in 58.1.

Both have traded victories in the past. However, the gelding MUSICAL MAESTRO got the better of the mare LA REINA in their last two meetings and should again stamp his gender dominance over her.
