WESTERN BUREAU

A St. James man who alleg-edly threatened two witnesses in a matter currently before the St. James Circuit, was granted bail with strict conditions in the Montego Bay Resident Mag-istrate's Court.

Stanford, Williams of Paradise, St. James, appeared before RM Winsome Henry on Wednesday to answer to the charges of threatening a Crown witness. He entered a not-guilty plea claiming that he had no conversation with the complainants.

Williams was arrested when he turned up at court for his possession of an offensive weapon matter. The complainants, mother and daughter, who has a rape matter before the St. James Circuit Court, and were allegedly threat-ened by Williams as they left.

The court is still unclear as to why he threatened the women, or whether he knew the accused person in their matter.

Allegations are that April 24, the complainant exited the court building, and saw the accused speaking to her child's grand-mother. The complainants alleg-edly walked past when Williams followed them. He allegedly pointed at them and told them that he was a killer.

He was granted bail in the sum of $50,000, and was warned not to interfere with the complainants. He is also to report to the Montego Freeport Police Station on Tuesdays.

He is scheduled to return to court on May 16.
