STETHS in shaky response

By Michael McLean, Freelance Writer

St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) will resume on 10-2 on the second day's play of the ISSA All-Island Spaulding Cup Cricket Championship with Eltham High at STETHS.

On the opening day of the rain-affected game yesterday, Eltham, who won the toss and elected to bat, were all out for 81 off 36.2 overs. National Youth player Romeo Duncan top-scored with 20 runs.

Jason Dawes and Richard Simpson were the pick of the bowlers for the Junior Bennett coached-STETHS team with three wickets a piece.

Dawes took 3-5 with four maidens off seven overs, while Simpson grabbed 3-13 with three maidens from eight overs. Linton Buchanan got 2-22 and Christopher Dyer got a wicket.

In reply, Duncan got a brilliant start for the Oral Simpson-coached Eltham team taking two wickets in his first over.

He got the wickets of Nick Blackwood for 0-0 and former National Youth player Nickoy Samuels also went for 0-0 with the first and fifth ball before rain stopped play at 2:10 p.m.

Play was resumed three hours later and the home team could only manage 10-2 when bad light stopped play with Paul Palmer on three runs and Ishmael Parchment on four.
