Legal Aid Representation is beeing sought for the St. Elizabeth couple who are facing charges of aiding and abetting the sexual assault of their 12-year-old daughter.
The woman, 38-year-old Vivene Campbell and her common-law husband, 43-year-old Clarence Wanliss, appeared in the Santa Cruz RM Court on April 23, where the matter was again set aside until May 28, because they were without legal representation.
In the meantime, the young girl who was placed in the custody of the Child Development Agency, will remain in a place of safety.
It is alleged that some time in February this year, the couple from Rock Land district near Leeds in St Elizabeth, entered into an agreement with a man from the same district to have his son stay with the 12-year-old girl in exchange for a piece of land.
On March 1, they were arrested and charged by the Santa Cruz police and brought before the Malvern RM Court, and later before the Black River RM Court, where they were offered bail in the sum of $80,000.
The common-law husband took up his bail but Campbell did not take up hers until two weeks ago.
