I find myself searching the Internet for more creative things to do. Last year I came across a website that offers an alternative operating system.
YouOS is a Web-based operating system. Wow, you must be saying what in heaven is he talking about. Hey, don't worry, I will spend some time explaining the concept behind this phenomenal idea.
In a nutshell, YouOS provides a virtual desktop which is streamed over the Internet. The service is not yet in beta, and hence will have some limitations.
Notwithstanding these limitations I found that YouOS has a lot of potential in this new era of the Internet.
YouOS does not require a physical computer to save your personal settings. Therefore, I can customise my browser and any other application without any problem.
To access your virtual desktop, you will have to sign-up for the YouOS service. Once you are on, you can begin learning more about the YouOS service.
Just imagine doing some work on a friend's computer in Kingston, and then later continue the same work on your own computer in the country.
YouOS Features at a glance:
Persist: Do some work. Log out. Log in later from another computer. It's like you never left.
Centralise: Manage all your web services, files, and accounts in one secure place.
Collaborate: Share files and apps through a simple, intuitive buddy list.
Customise: Install apps written by friends or write your own.
