Mandeville
A motor vehicle accident on the Grove Place to Kendal main road in Manchester, claimed the lives of two men at about 10.15 last Sunday night.
Sergeant Paulette Knight of the Mandeville police told THE STAR that the ill-fated car, a 1990 grey Honda Accord, was traveling from Mile Gully towards Kendal when the driver, Gary Watson, 38, lost control and slammed into a tree.
Watson, who is from a Barbican address in Kingston, is said to have failed to negotiate a corner . Three other persons were in the car with him including the two dead men, Errol Morrison, 45 years old of Waltham Park Road and Anthony Faulkner also of a Kingston address.
Wayne Peart the third passenger remains in the Mandeville Regional Hospital in stable condition while Watson was treated and released. The car, which is owned by Carrol Harrison of Barbican, Kingston 8, burst into flames shortly after the impact.
When THE STAR visited the scene of the accident persons who claimed to have been early on spot right after the accident said that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
A policeman close to the investigation confirmed that the driver's alcohol content was "way beyond" the legal limit.
This is the sixth fatal accident in the parish since the start of the year.
