William Tavares-Finson - file
Auctioneer William Tavares-Finson was elected president of the Jamaica Boxing Board at the board's annual general meeting held at the Sports Development Foundation's office last Thursday.
Tavares-Finson replaces Colonel Ken Barnes who did not seek re-election. The other members of the new executive are first vice-president Wallace Campbell, second vice-president Paul Seaton, general secretary Leroy Brown and treasurer Sonia Jackson.
The executive is completed by council members Norman Tomlinson, Keith Brown, Kingsley Goodison, Cedric Morrison, Dr. Aggrey Irons and Dr. Glenton Smith.
Meanwhile veteran board member Leroy Brown has been elected to the International Boxing Association's World Championship commission. This commission assesses applications from various countries to host world championships at senior, junior, female and cadet levels. Jamaica, Italy, Spain and Uzbekistan are the countries represented on the commission.
